I vi ii V in D Major

Sometimes referred to as the ’50’s Progression’, the I-vi-ii-V (One-Six-Two-Five) progression has been commonly used across all genres, and was real popular in doo-wop tunes in the 50’s and 60’s.

The ii – V section has a lot of harmonic momentum leading back to the I chord, making it sound pleasing and natural.
